Fan Update:August 2008

Dear Friends,

We were all delighted to learn this past year, that this will not be the final season of House MD- as was a possibility when we began to plan this event. Just  recently we all learned that Mr. Laurie has signed a new contract. The deal also adds another year to his contract, assuring he will stay on until at least the 2011-12 season. This is great news for fans of House everywhere and particularly meaningful to House Convention-Princeton.

You have all been waiting for good news but sadly we have received information that due to the rescheduling they have needed to do because of the writer’s strike this past year,  Fox will not be considering involvement in ANY Convention for the current year, and so we need to wait a little longer.

As the originators of the concept of a House M.D. Convention, we have successfully built -with your enthusiastic support and help- a fan Convention during the past sixteen (16) months.

Our concept of House Convention always centered on the involvement of the entire House MD family: cast/crew,
Writers, producers, directors and designers of the show.

With significant help from our partners The Princeton Regional Chamber Of Commerce,Nami Mercer (House Charity Tees), Community Blood Services, The American Red Cross, Princeton University and many of its student organizations as well as numerous additional Princeton connections, we were able to plan for this event and everything is in place for a true "House" fan Convention for all.

 "The Office" Convention which began planning ahead of us but around a similar time, served as a model for a successful TV fan Convention which included everyone involved with the show as well as the support of  NBC Universal, the show's network.

During this past year, several POTW (patients of the week), authors, writers, bloggers and all manner of performers have been in touch with us to say that they'd love to participate in this event- even following what was a most devastating writers strike.

Certainly it was clear from the information we received that this particular year was not optimal timing for such an event with Fox involvement . But when we started planning this event, we were ALL under the impression that this was the last season of House. However we all now know. that there will be at least  three more seasons. This is great news for everyone and shows that with perseverance and determination, we may get what we want AND what we need.

 To us, anything short of this type of convention is not what is in our hearts- some potw, some cast. We know that the Princeton venue is perfect and that the cast/crew are in NYC during the year. With three (3) more seasons we have asked Fox to consider the fans that support their work globally, to whom House is not just trite TV and who are eager to attend from all over the world. We have asked them not to disappoint you.

We continue to sponsor contests and participation with our fans through the multiple charities and events we are involved with.

We feel that House fans deserve a convention that is at least as great as the Office Convention was-inclusive of the entire world of "House" that only Fox could bring to it.
