"The problem with all of this, to me, is who is Wilson?" he tells Digital Spy. "People seem to know who House is and who Cuddy is, but I get very different descriptions of who Wilson is. Maybe this episode next week will help a little bit. So in my mind, when I think about him with Cuddy, it doesn't work.

"People have a view of him that he's warm and fuzzy and he'd be an easy guy for Cuddy to boss around and it might be a good idea to have a relationship. But I don't think Wilson would stand it for very long!"

For the mean time, however, Wilson's role on House and Cuddy or House and Lucas is mediator.

"Any time House has trouble with Cuddy or Lucas, Wilson's gonna be around to referee and also we're sharing an apartment. I'm finding there's a lot more this season than there used to be."

House returns with "Wilson" tonight on Fox.

First it was Ben Elton announcing his move to Australia. Now Stephen Fry says he too could be part of a comedy exodus from Britain.

The 52-year-old said he is considering following in the footsteps of his literary hero P.G. Wodehouse by pledging his allegiance to the Stars and Stripes.

Fry, who recently filmed a new series of the BBC show QI, said he would be ' honoured' to take U.S. citizenship 'if they'll have me'.

The Cambridge graduate, who lives in North London, toured the U.S. in a black London taxi for his BBC series, Stephen Fry in America.

At an awards ceremony in Los Angeles, Fry said he was searching for a home in the city to be near his friend and former comedy partner Hugh Laurie and had been encouraged by talking to Craig Ferguson, the Scots comedian who has become an American chat show host.

Laurie is based in Los Angeles where he films the world's most watched TV show House, in which he plays the lead role of grumpy doctor Gregory House.

Fry said: 'I'm looking for a place in LA. I do love America.

I had an apartment in New York for many years and have just sold that so I do want somewhere in America and I think now, having loved the East Coast as I do, I might just make it the West Coast.

'I'd be happy to be here. I love the weather. I have a mild form of bipolar disease. One of the things that really helps my moods is the sunshine.

'And of course I'd be close to my darling Hugh and his darling wife and his darling children.'

On his website he said wistfully: 'I was so nearly an American. It was that close. In the mid-1950s my father was offered a job at Princeton University - something to do with the emerging science of semi-conductors.

'One of the reasons he turned it down was that he didn't think he liked the idea of his children growing up as Americans.'

Meanwhile, comic Ben Elton, who is planning a move to Australia, has launched a a foulmouthed tirade against the Royal Family during a TV appearance on TV show, Good News Week in Melbourne.

The novelist called The Queen 'a sad little old lady' , husband Prince Philip a 'mad old bigot who wishes it was still the war' and  Prince Charles 'a disillusioned ex-hippy'.

Ben then mocked British families adding: 'That's a bog-standard British family in all its rainbow glory. If she (The Queen) had a black one and a disabled on, she'd have the full deck.'

A lot of House fans have talked about the fact that they are hoping that the show will be back for a seventh season. Nothing definite has been announced, but if you take a look at the latest probabilities, the show is probably going to be safe for another season. And we know that Hugh Laurie and most of the other cast members are under contracts for more seasons. So keep your fingers crossed and I’ll let you know when there is news.

But if you were also wondering if any of your other favorite shows are in danger, here’s the latest list of the casualties and the safe…and all the others. I hope all your favorites are safe.

Luckily for Hugh Laurie, his enormous black eye coincides with a brief gap in filming on his American medical drama, House.

The actor, 50, caused a stir among fellow diners at the Ivy in London this week when he arrived sporting the painful looking bruise.

His injury is thought to have been caused by a right hook from a gym sparring partner back in LA.

But Laurie refused to confirm that yesterday. When asked to offer an alternative explanation, he told the Mail:

'I walked into a door', adding: 'No, I mean I got hit by an owl'.

It is believed that his insurance will not reimburse lost wages for boxing injuries.

Since he earns a reported £130,000 an episode, that shiner may prove to be an expensive one if it does not fade soon.

Laurie remains based in LA, away from his wife Jo Green and three children in London, after accepting a four-year offer worth over £5million a year from House producers.

The show will now run until at least 2012.

Laurie recently splashed out £2million on a lavish mansion in the Hollywood Hills, described as a 'magical garden paradise', that is set to become his family's new home when they visit.

The 3,242-sq ft gated English country house includes a gym, a pool and a guest house.

The extraordinary new salary boost will leave him just below CSI's recently departed leading man, William Petersen, on £334,000 per episode, and 24's Kiefer Sutherland, on £278,000 per episode.

****House, a once-great show that has devolved into a ludicrous and unconvincing soap opera, may be the season's biggest disappointment, and Lie is kind of a time-slot throwaway. But you need them only until January, when you should replace House with NBC's Chuck (yes, that's how the mighty have fallen) and Lie with 24. Just make sure you watch 24 that night: It's the kind of show you need to see before the Internet/workplace spoiler brigade spills the surprises. You can save the over-the-top twists of Miami for later.

To keep the comic touch going, switch over to Castle, which has grown into a Bones-caliber mystery/comedy delight. And if none of those shows work for you, or if you just need a time-slot break (as you will at 8:30, thanks to CBS' Purpose-ful mistake), there's another month of football.
